Tasting impressions #54: Smoked Porter

November 5, 2013

I had a test bottle of smoked porter yesterday and the condition was not quite there yet but what a change overnight – good head and carbonation slightly tingling in the back of the throat.

Ended at 1012 FG, 4.6 per cent abv. Aroma is fruity roasted chocolate. Taste is dry roast coffee, refreshing fruitiness. Has thirst-quenching qualities, very sessionable. I can see these bottles flying out of the cupboard – luckily I have two mini-casks of this black nectar which as slightly heavier might survive a week or two.
